We need a pandemic treaty — but it must hold nations accountable

The cycle of state denial and downplaying followed by disastrous consequences is a familiar pattern in public health crises, as demonstrated during the COVID-19 pandemic. To prevent similar outcomes in the future, it is crucial to establish a robust global pandemic treaty that emphasizes accountability and compliance to enhance preparedness and response efforts worldwide.
